    Established in 1951, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) - UN Migration - is the leading inter-governmental organization dedicated to promoting human and orderly migration for the benefit of all.  It does so by advancing the understanding of migration issues, assisting governments in meeting the challenges of migration, encouraging social and economic development through migration, and upholding the dignity and well-being of migrants, their families and their communities.

    With 172 member states, a further 8 states holding observer status and offices in over 100 countries, IOM also works to promote international cooperation on migration issues, to assist in the search for practical solutions to migration problems and to provide humanitarian assistance to migrants in need, including refugees and internally displaced people.     In Indonesia, IOM operations date back to 1979 with the processing of Vietnamese boat people arriving in Tanjung Pinang port, Riau Islands.  Since, IOM’s activities have expanded both in terms of geographic reach and target population.

    Position Title : Project Assistant I
    Duty Station : Jakarta
    Organization Unit : Counter Trafficking Labor Migration (CTLM)
    Classification : General Service Staff, Grade G-4
    Type of Appointment : Special Short-Term Contract for 9 (nine) months, the first six months shall be considered as probation period. The tenure of contract of internal candidate holding a Fixed Term/Regular contract will remain unchanged.
    Report to : National Programme Officer (NPO)

    Under the direct supervision and overall guidance of the National Programme Officer (NPO), the incumbent will provide technical and administrative support for the implementation of IOM Indonesia’s Counter-Trafficking project of “Addressing Stigma for Protection, Reintegration and Evidence Base” funded by United Kingdom.
    Core Functions / Responsibilities:
    • Under the direct supervision of the NPO, assist with the day-to-day operational coordination and implementation of the above-mentioned project components in accordance to the contractual terms of the projects.
    • Under the supervision of and in coordination with the NPO, the incumbent will perform the additional cross-cutting project implementation tasks.
    • Assist to liaise and coordinate with national and international agencies, provincial and local authorities, and relevant other non-state actors to support program objectives;
    • Carry out all administrative and logistics arrangements for all project activities efficiently and effectively and support preliminary review of requests for payment due to service providers and local suppliers. 
    • Support monitoring of on-going activities and prepare progress reports and other reports and information materials as requested by the NPO.
    • Participate in project-related activities (workshops, seminars, coordination meetings, etc.) as required and prepare the draft minutes of any meetings or event attended.
    • Under the supervision of the NPO, assist the case management section within CTLM unit to provide direct victim assistance.
    • Undertake in-country duty travel related to project implementation and monitoring in close supervision and guidance of NPO, as requested.
    • Provide any other clerical assistance (drafting letters of correspondence, etc.) as necessary.
    • Provide informal translation and interpretation services as required.
    • Perform such other duties as may be assigned
    Required Qualifications and Experience

    • University Degree in Political/Social Sciences, Law and equivalent combination of training and experience, with minimum 2 (two) years of professional experience, or;
    • Completed High School degree from an accredited academic institution, with 4 (four) years of relevant professional experience
    • Indonesian National with good knowledge of, and experience in project implementation and operational
    • Has experience in project implementation and related field
    • Have ability to manage workload within general schedule of work, instructions and standard practices
    • Have ability to work with minimum supervision and maintain composure under pressure
    • Have liaison and networking skills and experience with state and non-state actors
    • Have experience in facilitating the training/workshop will be more advantages
    • Demonstrated ability to work in a multicultural, multi-ethnic environment and to maintain effective working relations with people of different national and cultural backgrounds
    • Well versed in written and oral communication skills in English and Indonesian, including the ability to explain and present technical information; able to draft written documentations in a clear and concise style in both English and Indonesian
    • Proficient in computer applications: Ms-Office: word, excel and PowerPoint
    • Willing to travel to monitor project activities.

    Fluency in English and Bahasa Indonesia both written and spoken is required
